📖 Simple Tips for Reading Together

1. Pick the Right Book
✔️ Choose stories with a problem and solution
✔️ Look for books with fun plots and interesting characters

2. Talk About the Cover
Ask: “What do you think this book will be about?”

3. Preview Vocabulary
Before reading, introduce tricky words. Use the pictures to help explain.

4. Do a Picture Walk
Flip through the pages and look at the pictures together. Let your child guess what might happen.

5. Read—and Re-read—with Questions
On the second read, pause to ask questions and talk about what’s happening.

❓ “Wh” Questions to Ask Your Child

  • Who are the main characters?

  • What is the problem in the story?

  • What is the character’s plan?

  • Did the plan work? How do you know?

  • Why did that happen?
